9/18/11 Wavelength of the Moment: Some Ghettotech

I got this track on XL8R in April, and I rediscovered it latey and have been listening to it a lot. It's a jukey, hyperactive take on a Lil Scrappy track, and it turns out that mid-oughts Atlanta crunk translates pretty well into some double-time dancefloor swag. All hail Kaptain Cadillac.

[Download:] Pumpz - Salva & Vortex
Some shit in a similar vein, courtesy of Friends of Friends jukemaster Salva. Got this at XLR8R as well.

One to Love - Rain Dog

Another XLR8R gem, this time from Rain Dog. Absolutely beautiful track, reminds me of Geotic, but with some chopped-up post-dubstep in the mix. Go pay whatever you want to download his EP, it's friggin gorgeous.

[Download:] Ass-N-Titties - DJ Assault

And here's some OG Ghettotech for yo ass. Detroit dance music in the 90's was a strange and beautiful thing.

As you probably gleaned, the moral of this post is that you should probably read XLR8R. They consistently post the most amazing, diverse, and forward thinking sounds in electronic music today, and we love them here at CC. So go check their site out. SOOOOO much free shit.

Lobster out.

11/3/10 Wavelength of the Moment: matthewdavid

It is a beautiful, beautiful day for music. XLR8R, may they live forever, have chosen producer/tape-fanatic/vibemaster matthewdavid for the latest installment of their Podcast. And the results are absolutely beautiful. His soundscapes will transport you. I don't have anything else to say about this, except "GET IT, NO EXCEPTIONS." You can even listen to the whole thing on the site for free before you download, that's what I did! But it's the best use of 45MB you could possibly imagine, I promise. This is why I love the beat scene...it thrives on innovation and experimentation, not how much you sound like FlyLo. Though we undeniably all aspire to achieve a similar level of awesomeness.

AnOtHeR AwEsOmE ViDeO

They just keep comin'.

gah. so freakin good. brilliant animation, written to a psychadelic groove...put this on your "watch-while-stoned" queues. (though it's still great sober)

BONUS: two bangers by Mux Mool and Devonwho respectively, found over at 92bpm (GREAT BLOG, FOLLOW IT). Mind-blowingly deep kick drums on the Mux Mool joint, thick dense bass on the Devonwho. Whip out your headphones/subwoofer and prepare to have your soul massaged.

BONUS part deux: another banger, courtesy of XLR8R (what a boss website), this one a remix of Shigeto (who I will post on SOON) by Mike Slott. Who is the fuckin tits. Want proof? Check out his INCREDIBLE remix of Flying Lotus:

XLR8R Podcast - Alex B

This here's Alex B. We've posted on him before. He's a beat music producer based in Colorado, and this podcast he did for XLR8R is pretty much comprised of 100% utter JAMS. So go grab it! He also owns a record label/clothing line/jack-of-all-trades company called Elm and Oak. His album Moments came out a while back, you can buy it here and I seriously suggest you do. Amazing producer, good to see that awesome experimental/hip-hop/electronic shit is coming out of other places than just LA.
